Nine days of various parental visits were fun, and now we’re ready for 2009! We’ve mostly eaten at home this week, but we did get takeout from Pho Hiep Hua (2211A University), after much “discussion” about alternatives. Ultimately only one out of five got pho; the rest of us got grilled lemon chicken and/or spring rolls. PHH is consistent and solid, the pho is good but not transcendent, the chicken was okay, the spring rolls were large and…okay. Best part about the rolls is the sweetish brown dipping sauce, surely involving fish sauce and tamarind, not sure what else. Palm sugar? We don’t go to PHH much, and only for takeout, the cafeteria-like atmosphere isn’t great for eating-in. But it’s a solid option, and Wheaton’s only pho place (though not the only Vietnamese around).
